How to clean a cast iron sink

How to clean a cast iron sink

Several months ago (as part of our kitchen remodel), we decided to pour our own concrete countertops.  You can find part 1, part 2 and part 3 here.

If you're new here, welcome! You can follow me on Instagram (greywoodmama) for more behind the scenes stories of our remodeling projects!

If you've been following me on this journey, you know that this remodel process is taking WAY longer than expected. But, I'm ok with it - we are learning SO much!

10 ways to make your house a home.

10 ways to make your house a home.

You don’t realize just how much you appreciate ‘home’ until you’re not there for a few days.

While at home on normal days, we tend to get stressed out with the fact that our houses aren’t perfect.  We always have things we’d like to change or update.  There’s always cleaning to be done. Laundry.  Oh laundry.

But why?  Why can’t we just enjoy home as it is?

Traditional and non-traditional ways to decorate your walls.

Traditional and non-traditional ways to decorate your walls.

One question I always get from people is “How do you know where to hang things on your wall?”

My short answer is...I just know!

But I know that doesn’t help ya’ll out.  And greywoodmama is here to help ya’ll out.  So today I am sharing a few tips for how I visualize things before hanging them on the wall.

Antiquing.

Antiquing.

My love for antiques started back in college. I have no idea how it happened. I have always loved decorating. I think my inspiration for home décor started when I was young and played The Sims every night. Every. Single. Night. I didn’t care about ‘playing’ the game necessarily. All I wanted to do was build houses and decorate them.

I also had a love for junk (or treasures) that I could buy for little money and turn into something beautiful for my room or my home.

If you are looking for an easy project that involves your precious photos, you are in the right place!  Transferring a photo to wood is incredibly simple.

Although I love a good picture frame to hang on the wall or display on a shelf, this project allows you to display your photos in a fun, unique way.

Have you ever felt like you needed to hang something on an empty wall?  Almost like the wall is staring at you day in and day out until you hang something to fill the space.

My mother is probably reading this thinking, “Nope, I’m not putting a hole in my wall!”

You want to hang just the right thing. Not too big, not too small. It has to semi match the rest of your room.

Drop cloth curtains.

Drop cloth curtains.

As the remodel continues, I am jumping ahead of myself a little bit and putting up curtains.

Well, let me explain.

Remember in December when it was freezing outside?  And in January when it was -35 degrees?  Well, when you have a sliding glass door with no curtains, that makes for a really cold room.

Needless to say, even though we don’t have trim or light switch covers (we are far from that step) on the wall yet, we now have curtains.
