Creating a nursery reading nook for reality.

Our baby girl is 9 months old. How can that be? I mean, she was just born yesterday.

Since she’s 9 months old, she’s incredibly mobile and wants to explore everything! We’ve been slowly ‘baby proofing’ spaces in our home, like this hallway refresh for less than $20.

The next spot on my list was her nursery reading nook. This probably should have been the first thing on my list, but hey, better late than never - right?

Here’s what her nursery reading nook looked like when she was born.

Absolutely loved it! You can find the rest of the nursery details, here.

But, quite honestly, I knew there were some things about this room that I was going to need to adjust. And the reading nook is one of them. See that wooden chair? Yeah, super cute, but not great for a 9 month old trying to read books.

So, here’s what it looks like today!

Friends, this is reality. Her reading nook looks like this ALL THE TIME. And as much as I am a stickler about picking stuff up, right now this doesn’t bother me.

I want to foster a love for reading and she has full access to tons of books all the time.

And I love it.

Those baskets on the wall are holding books as well. Right now they are holding our seasonal books and the books geared more for when she gets a bit older.

Eventually I might change my mind and want the books picked up and neatly stacked on a shelf, but until then, I’m enjoying the mess.
