Pumpkin Doughnuts

Brr..it’s a chilly Fall morning over here!  Actually it feels more like Winter, and I’m not ready for it to be that cold yet.  So, to make sure we enjoy Fall a bit more, I made some pumpkin doughnuts.

Friends, greywoodmama is not a baker (although I’ve always wanted to open my own bakery - maybe someday).  

But, I do like to try and bake new things and figure out how I can make them even better.  So, here’s a SIMPLE doughnuts recipe that you can mix and match ingredients to make whatever flavor you want.

Shopping List

1 box yellow cake mix (you can use gluten free if you want)
1 can of pumpkin (15 oz)
2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
1 egg


Powdered sugar
Cinnamon and sugar


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Grease (I use Pam) your doughnut pan (I bought mine from Amazon here)

In a large bowl mix cake mix, pumpkin, spice, and the egg.

Fill the doughnut pan each about half full.  I used a Ziplock bag and cut the corner off of it to pipe the mixture into the pan.

Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Allow doughnuts to cool about 2-3 minutes, then remove from the pan.

Allow doughnuts to cool on a cooling rack for about 15 minutes.

In the meantime, mix up your glaze / melt your chocolate / or mix the cinnamon and sugar for the top of the doughnuts.

Once the doughnuts have cooled, you can top them with whatever you’d like!

Okay friends, it’s that easy - and they were super delicious!

Here are the two changes I made to the recipe:

Devil's food cake mix
2 eggs

The 2 eggs made the doughnuts a lot softer.  So, if you want super soft doughnuts, use two eggs.  Otherwise 1 is just fine!
